Eating Disorder Not Otherwise
Specified
This category is
for people who clearly have an eating disorder, but do not have one or
more of the symptoms required for a specific diagnosis of Anorexia
Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa. DSM-IV
lists
several examples that might allow this diagnosis. We will present just two
here.
1) Patient has all symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa, but still
menstruates.
2) Patient has all symptoms of Bulimia Nervosa, but the binges have either
not been often enough, or have occurred over too short a period, to
qualify.
Visit an excellent nonprofit web site on anorexia and related
disorders.
