AUTHORS
Silvia Bigatti was born in
Argentina and has lived in Mexico and the U.S. She obtained her
Ph.D. from the San Diego State University/ University of California
San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. Most of
her clinical work has been done with Spanish-speaking populations.
She is currently an Associate Professor at Indiana University Purdue
University Indianapolis.
William A. (Al) Hillix is
a retired professor of psychology. Al served as a department
chair at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, for 2 years, and
later at San Diego
State University for the 5 years before he retired. He was a visiting
professor at the University of Leiden in Holland and at Michigan
State University. As an experimental psychologist, he insists on
seeing data on the effectiveness of each new treatment for mental
illness before recommending it.
Terry Cronan served for 2 years as the Director
of the Marian Wright Edelman Institute for the Study of Children,
Youth, and Families at San Francisco State University, but has now
returned to her former position as a Professor of Psychology at San
Diego State University. She earned
her Ph.D. at Michigan State University under Dr. George Fairweather,
a pioneer in the field of community psychology, specifically in
finding methods for reducing recidivism in psychotic patients. She
is married to Al Hillix. The couple often confuse people by using
Cronan-Hillix as their last name.
